Throughout video games out there that brings in

Throughout this article,
we will be researching the effects of video gaming whether it’s bad or good.
Video games have been around for some time now, the modern-day video games when
playing must have a player’s undivided attention. When playing these games, the
gamers are always attached on a physical and emotional level. Today there’s
about a 97 percent chance of teenagers in the United States that plays video
games then before which means that the people who are selling these games are
profiting. I must admit that there are many domestic video games out there that
brings in about $12 billion each year. A lot of these games has both negative
and positive effects on our youth. Even though there have been studies of video
games being negative there are also studies that have proven games to have a
positive impact on children and these games sometimes help children to improve
their mental by allowing them to improve their dexterity and computer literacy.
Gaming could also add a positives psychological impact that could improve a
gamer’s emotional health.  For example,
games such as Roadblocks, or Sims Free Play could be used to help autistic
children learn social interactions that can help them in their daily life. Technology
has improved tremendously to the point of better graphics these graphics give
off a sense of reality so that the player could have a better experience.

Video
games have been around for about 30 plus years, the modern-day video games when
playing must have a players undivided attention.
A lot of these games has both negative

games being negative there are also studies that have proven games to have a
positive impact on children and these games sometimes help children to improve
their mental by allowing them to improve their dexterity and computer literacy.
Technology has improved tremendously to the point of better graphics these
graphics gives off a sense of reality so that the player could have a better
experience. Did you know that the quality of these video games sometime makes
powerful impacts on our youth lives? For example, when a game has a prosocial
and rewards the gamer for building its own city or for helping others, the
child seems to want to help more and show more empathy in their daily lives.
“According to a 2014 study by Douglas Gentile, Ph.D., associate professor of
psychology at Iowa State University. Studies also has shown that video games
with violent content are linked to more aggressive behavior in teens.” Some of
these games brings many concerns of the parents because they feel that these
games may contain violence. Some of this is because of the amount of time that
is spent on these video games which could increase the child’s behavior making
them aggressive.

I
read a 2010 survey by the Kaiser Family Foundation that children from the ages
8 and up devotes over six hours each day to gaming, or entertainment media.
Understand that less than half of our youth who did this survey said that their
parents has certain rules about the games and the shows that they play or
watch. In some games where players are to interact and where they are
encouraging and identifying with ones’ role played by their best character
players can rank up in the game level as they master each skill so that they
are able to win. “In videos game about cars, and winning may mean winning the
race” however in most of these popular games the only way to move up and win is
through fighting or battling with one another. Gamers normally benefit from
engaging in violence while beating the opponent up which does shows lots of
aggression and violence. “Mr Gentile & Anderson (2003) stated that these
video games would increase the negative behavior in our children because of the
constant act of violence throughout the course of the game and that the act are
continually being repeated. Repetition plays a big part in this because this
method has long been considered as an effective teaching technique when it comes
to trying to increase ones’ learning patterns. It was said in research by
(Pediatrics, Nov. 2008)” that managing for earlier aggression, children who
played video games that had a lot of shooting or fighting in them were likely
to show more aggression in the beginning of the school year than any other
child later in the school year while some video games does require you to
abstract a high level of thinking. There were even some studies that tried to
draw out a distinction of bad and good games but neither of the studies gave
the researcher a reason to believe that the games would lead to real world
violence. Even thought they have drawn out conclusions that small areas of
subgroups such as our youth being at risk of being violent from a big
population which trends can be risky, it is still worth nothing that as violent
games have increased during the years, the amount of violence our youth has
fell by which happens to be more than half in the year of 1994 to 2010 and this
is according to the United States Department of Justice. Of course, this is
nothing that you would expect if any of these games had the power to make
children go bad or do evil.

This
research concludes that any aggressive or negative acts or effect of children
after playing violent video games might have more than an offset only because
violent people are lured to such games, and the more they play these games the
less time they have to commit a crime. “Even if violent video games are not turning
people into killers, we might still wonder if they are harming our kids in
subtler ways. As psychologist Douglas A. Gentile of Iowa State University puts
it, whatever we practice repeatedly affects the brain”. A lot comes into play
when it comes to this topic I say different children different situations.
While writing this paper I decided to have a sit down with my 15 ½ year old son
and ask him his opinion on this topic and he explained that some children do
tend to get angry while playing these games but only because they don’t take
losing to well, so it may affect them that way. They may get mad at the game
and yell or scream at their teammate or even get so mad and through the
controller. I then share the situation with him about the boy who shot up a
school or church and his response to that was that some children minds are not
equip to handle video games he then went to explain a situation that happens
constantly with is 10,15 year old cousin and how they tend to get angry when
they play 2k18 because of the other players aren’t moving correctly or because
they may be losing and this is in fact a true story because their grandmother
have taking their controllers a few times because of it. My son goes on to say
that he feels that it wasn’t and will never be that serious to him he feels
that it is just a game and he fully understands that. In conclusion some
effects of playing video games being negative while others may view them as
positive.

This
debate is one that can swing in either direction depending on the individual’s
point of view and on a case by case basis.
I truly believe that video games do not affect human behavior in all
people.  I think video games can produce addictive
behavior because of its immersive worlds and captivating story.  Video games can be a world separate from the
real world we currently live in and those who engage in playing video games
whether its online or single player uses video games as an escape from the real
world they live in.
