The Roaring Twenties and the Great Depression were two major events that happened in the 1920’s and 1930’s. The economy, the politics, and society were all affected and effected by these two events These events are different because one benefited the people and the other tore the people apart. In the Roaring Twenties, the economy was thriving. Businesses were good. The government lowered taxes on businesses, and automobile sales raised. The Great Depression, in 1929, banks failed to keep money. There were too many unpaid loans and people lost their money. There was also problems with farming. Farmers produced more crops and went bankrupt and lost their farms. The differences between these events are that the Roaring 20s were a good time and impacted the people and The Great Depression was a disappointing time. The politics of the Roaring 20’s were that the government had Anti-immigration laws or Nativism. President Harding didn’t want others causing trouble in the country. Hooser created the Laissez faire. During The Great Depression the Federal Reserve System monetary policy which controls the money, they sat high interest rates which lead to less loans. Wages stayed low The similarities are that both wanted the best for the people and the government.Society wise, in the Roaring twenties, the women changed. The women wore shorter dresses and hair styles. Religion and science were in a competition. Some believed God Created the world and some believe we came from species that once roam the Earth billions of years ago. Intolerance between race was an issue. While during the Great Depression, the government raised taxes. They had a weak economy. People had no hope for a new life. The fathers of their families were so embarrassed that they moved away on trains. The women were left to take care of their children. The differences of these two are that the roaring twenties changed some things about their people. Similarities are that both had problems and didn’t like what the government did.In conclusion, The Roaring Twenties and the Great Depression affected and effected people. The government had a big impact on the people. Also the people changed how their society, economy, and politics were. I believe in the future the people will get over their depression and the society gets better with a good government system. The only thing that may be different is the race problems like immigrants and Nativism.
